Summary

Residential premises attached to post office and stores. Eighteenth century, refashioned in the early nineteenth century. Coursed, squared stone walls, in Portland and lias. Slate roof. Brick stack on ridge, left of centre. 2 storeys.

Full Description

Post Office and Stores, with attached residential premises. C18, refashioned in the early C19. Coursed, squared stone walls, in Portland and lias. Slate roof. Brick stack on ridge, left of centre. 2 storeys. 4 windows, 3-light wooden casements with glazing-bars. Shop-front at centre: 2 large shop-windows with thin glazing-bars and moulded cornice carried right over. Doorway at centre, into shop with ribbed architrave and circular bossed corners, 2-leaf flush panelled door, glazed in the upper half, Flush-panelled reveals. Large window at right hand, ground, of same pattern, though 4 panes wide. Doors: at left hand end, next to Ilchester Arms, flush-panelled with 2 top lights, C19. Stone voussoirs. Passage entrance at right hand end, with a keyed stone lintel over.
