Full Description
Early C19 landscape park, c.16ha, incorporating `picturesque' estate village as part of the visual scheme. Principal feature of the park is the 1ha lake, formed 1830s south west and west of the mansion by damming the source of the River Bride. Weir with cascade at north western end of the lake. Open lawn between lake and mansion, with scattered mature trees. <1>
The park was planted between around 1797 and 1814 by Robert Williams. The park incorporates the model village of Littlebredy which includes work by Peter Frederick Robertson circa 1830-33 and Benjamin Ferrey in 1838. Most of the work on the village and landscape had been completed by 1842. During the late 19th century and 20th century very little of the layout and character had been change. <2>
