Listed Building record MDO14898 - Digby Estate Office, 9 Cheap Street, Sherborne

A house built in the late 18th or early 19th century. The building has walls covered in stucco and slate-covered roof. Premises formerly occupied by Rawlence and Squarey, Surveyors.

No 9 (Digby Estate Offices) and No 11 Cheap Street. Late C18th or early C19th stucco work on corner of Cheap Street and Newland. Grade 2*. (2)

‘(32) House with offices, at the S. corner of Newland, has a late 18th-century or early 19th-century stuccofaced block on the W., and the back wing has been much altered. The W. front is symmetrically designed; it has on the ground floor a central doorway with panelled side-pilasters and a plain frieze and cornice continued over flanking bow-windows which have small pilasters dividing the bowed sashes (Plate 49); on the first floor the windows are tripartite and set in shallow round-headed recesses with plain imposts continued across the front as a flat string. The third-floor windows are plain. There is a bracket eaves-cornice and parapet. Inside the building is an original 17th-century stone fireplace with moulded jambs and square head.’
