Listed Building record MDO16588 - United Reform Church, High Street, Swanage

United Reform Church, originally built in 1837 to designs of "Mr George Gollop of Poole" with walls in Purbeck stone rubble, a large extension to the east built in 1901-2, designed by Tom Stevens of Bournemouth. Over the doors are the inscriptions ‘ Built 1705, Rebuilt 1837’

Original Congregational chapel of 1837, built on the site of a Presbyterian meeting chapel of 1705. Designed by "Mr George Gollop of Poole". Large extension to east built 1901-2, designed by Tom Stevens of Bournemouth. The original building is of Purbeck Stone rubble, with a central projecting section in ashlar. Roof concealed behind parapet. The projecting centre section has 2 doors on the ground floor, with semi-circular heads. These are carved with the dates - `Built 1705', and `Rebuilt 1837', - respectively. First floor has a semi-circular headed window. <1>
