Full Description

ST 74630152 <1.1> A polished flint axe head was found in 1960, by workmen ditching near New Barn (ST 74560151).

The axe which is broken at its butt-end measures 13.0cm long, 6.5cm wide and 2.3cm thick. It is now in possession of Hon Mrs A B Russell, Lyscombe Farm. <1>

An Ordnance Survey record card dated 23 October 1978, with reference to information given by the landowner, notes that a polished flint axehead was found in 1960 by workmen ditching near New Barn. The axe is broken at its butt end, it measures 13cm long, 6.5 cm wide and 2.3 cm thick. <2>
