Listed Building record MDO17227 - Peacock Lodge, Charborough Park, Morden

Peacock Lodge, built of ashlar, forms the north west entrance to Charborough Park and originally stood on the Wimborne-Dorchester road before it was re-routed in 1841. The lodge comprises a large elliptical-headed arch flanked symmetrically by lower rectangular blocks, containing living quarters, with circular windows. The archway is surmounted by the figure of a buck. RCHM <2> stated that the lodge is shown in an engraving of 1837, but Newman and Pevsner <3>are more specific in dating when they state that it "Must be of circa 1790".
