Summary

Cemetery lychgate built around 1800 and rebuilt on a new site around 1950. Four Ionic columns support a pedimented timber canopy, with moulded entablature. Modern stone walls inside this structure contain panels from the obelisk (MDO7845) inscribed in English and Latin. These record that the Obelisk was erected in 1781 by Captain John Houlton in memory of James Frampton.
