Summary

Second World War anti tank obstacle comprising a line of at least twenty one anti tank blocks to the west of Tollerford, Maiden Newton. The blocks are visible as structures on aerial photographs taken in 1947 and were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valleys AIM project.

Full Description

1. Two anti tank obstacles situated above the very steep cutting on the disused railway embankment, 50 yds from the main Maiden Newton to Crewkerne Road.
2. Constructed of conglomerate concrete in 4-6" horizontal wide bands. Both are positioned edge on to each other. None are found on the opposite embankment.
3. Dimensions:
42 Inch (approx) square
4ft (approx) protruding from the surface
18 inch appex on top
32 inches between obstacles
4. Eastern obstacle is suffering from exfoliation of the concrete.
