Summary

A World War II rectangular pillbox constructed in 1940-41. It is located near the bridge at Lower Bockhampton, Stinsford near Dorchester. It is built of brick and concrete and measures 15 feet by 12 feet. A field visit in 1996 recorded the structure was extant.

Full Description

A 15ft x 12.5ft rectangular pillbox constructed within 3ft of the river. Grenade throwing entrance with 3 steps down into pillbox. Inside 3ins of floodwater and debris. Anti-ricochet wall. Overall good condition, but flood water prevents internal examination. Covered with considerable amount of vegetation.
