Please read our .

Summary

The badly truncated remains of a Roman building was found in the SW corner of the trench excavated by Wessex Archaeology in 1989, in advance of proposed redevelopment behind the former Dingles Store (now Princes House), Dorchester. The building remains comprised three mortar and chalk floors and a posthole. No dating evidence was recovered, but these remains were cut by a later Roman building. It is likely that this earlier building dates to the 1st-2nd century AD. Very little can be said about the size, layout and function of this building.
