Full Description

Wessex Archaeology conducted an archaeological excavation at Highcliffe Castle garden, Christchurch, during 1997 in advance of the proposed restoration of the gardens. The results were subsequently published as a short note in PDNHAS volume 119 (1).

Excavation revealed that most of the layout of the original 19th century parterre had survived, although the north eastern portion had been destroyed.
