Full Description
M. Fox for Poole Museums, directed a rescue excavation in advance of the Dolphin development, Church Street, Christchurch, during 1974-5 (site X11.3). The excavation was subsequently published in DNHAS monograph 5 (1).
The excavations revealed many post-medieval pits, generally 1.0-1.5m deep with steep sides and circular plan. Other features included an 18th century soakaway lined with bricks [F62] and three 19th century square brick structures 1m long [F1, 10, 17]. These features tended to cluster along the SW edges of the excavation area.
