Full Description

A Palaeolithic Handaxe was found at Mill Road, Fairmile, Christchurch. (1) This object does not appear to have been recorded by Wymer, although he mentions a single handaxe found at Mill Lane in 1911, an event which he conflates with 86 handaxes found at Mill Plain on another occasion. (2)

Mill Road is close to a gravel pit marked on the 2nd edition OS map at Fairmile Road, this may be where the handaxe derives from.
