Full Description
Tramway branches from the Merchants’ Railway served King Barrow Quarries. By 1861 a branch was carried under a bridge beneath Easton Lane near Verne Yeates. (1) Although the 1863 map only indicates the bridge, (2) maps of 1889 and 1901 show the tramway. At those dates a second tramway branched through a tunnel from Waycroft, while a third tramway entered the quarries from Inmosthay, crossing Easton Lane just north of the limekiln there. (3-4) The tramways had been lifted by 1927 although the tunnel/bridge under Easton Lane remained. (5)
