Summary

A round barrow consisting of a small mounded surrounded by a ditch and outer bank, and thought possibly to be a saucer barrow. The outer bank has been partly destroyed on the eastern side by a later woodland bank. In 1970 this monument was described as a mound 18 feet in diameter and about one foot high, surrounded by a ditch 4 feet wide, and outer bank 7 feet across and one foot high.

Full Description

A barrow group centred ST 730023 (See Table). <2-4>

C. ST 73000230. A saucer barrow; overall diameter 12.0m. The mound is 6.5m in diameter, and 0.4m high, with a ditch 1.2 m wide and 0.2m deep; the surrounding bank, destroyed in the southeast quadrant is 0.3m high, and 2.0m wide. The whole is tree covered, but otherwise well preserved.

(61) Saucer-barrow ? (73000230), 35 yds. N.N.E. of (60), is covered with trees; it consists of a small mound surrounded by a well-marked ditch and an outer bank; the latter has been destroyed on the E. side by an old copse bank. Diam. of mound 18 ft., ht. 1 ft. Ditch 4 ft. across and 6 ins. deep; bank 7 ft. across and 1 ft. high.
