Full Description
Good, accessible, example of one of several quarrymen's shelters at Tout Quarry, built into waste tip opposite a quarried face. Typically constructed with large stone blocks, internal measurements approx. 1.8m x 1.8m with entrance ‘doorway’ 0.5m wide. Height averages 1.9m beneath massive lintels. Inside, two Roach blocks have excellent fossil ‘Portland screws’. (1) Some vandalism resulted in pushing out of a block from the structure, observed in 2007. (2)
