Full Description

A Neolithic hammerhead was found in 1942 in a ploughed field between Doles Ash and Piddletrenthide. It was presented to the Dorset County Museum by Mr. W. Stevens of Doles Ash, Piddletrenthide. The implement was found on the west side of the 1920 plantation (which joins the north west corner of Dole's Hill plantation) approximately 25 yards south of the east to west hedge and 10 yards from the plantation hedge. The site of this find was under grass at the time.

(SY 7308 9874) The implement was found on the west side of the 1920 plantation (which joins the north-west corner of Dole's Hill plantation) approximately 25 yds south of the east-west hedge and 10 yds from the plantation hedge. (The site was pointed out on the map by Mr Stevens). <2>

The site of this find is under grass. There are no further finds. The hammer head was not seen in the Dorset Museum. <3>
