The Star, Thursday, 11/3/1886 – “Loss of another Guernsey Vessel: This morning Captain J. Jovnt and the crew of the brig Cicero, returned to the island by South Western steamer from Southampton, having lost their vessel by stranding in West Bay, near Portland, on her voyage to London. The Cicero left St. Sampson’s on Monday, and was insured in the Jersey Mutual Club.” Also: Cargo: Granite Chips. Wrecked 16 miles W. of Portland. Refs. BOT: Wk.
