Summary

An octagonal lookout built in 1804, during the Napoleonic wars, as part of a coastal defence system. The building was mainly used by the Excise Service, as a base for anti-smuggling operations. It has stone walls, covered in render, and the roof is of Welsh slate. There are windows on three sides, looking out to sea, and a door in the north wall.
