Summary

Two pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs. They are probably the sites of post medieval chalk pits. The larger pit is shown on the 1:25-inch scale Ordnance Survey map published in 1889, where it is described as 'Old Chalk Pit'; the smaller pit is not shown on this map.
