Full Description

A bank and ditched field system is visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs. It was levelled by ploughing in 1950 when about 12 acres of Fordington Down immediately south-west of Square Coppice were taken under cultivation and field walking recovered quantities of Roman material. It is probable that some of the field boundaries are of later medieval origin.{1-3}
