Monument record MDO2214 - Barrow near Laycock Dairy Farm, Puddletown

Summary

One of two Bronze Age bowl barrows aligned north west by south east, situated on a low ridge. The barrows each have a mound composed of earth and chalk, with maximum dimensions of 16 metres and 14 metres in diameter respectively and about 0.5 metres in height. Each mound is surrounded by a quarry ditch which have become infilled over the years, but will survive as buried features 1.5 metres wide.

'B' (44) - SY 71529474. Bowl barrow situated 25 yds south-south-east of 'A' is in similar condition. <4>

Two ploughed bowl barrows; neither has a visible ditch. `B' SY 71519473, diameter 16.0m., height 0.3m. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <5>
