Summary

Formal gardens at Waterston Manor designed around 1912. The layout and planting has been simplified but retains its essential form. It comprises a formal rectangular area on south front of manor, with a central sundial. To east of the manor is an extensive lawn containing a stone-edged pool or canal aligned on the east front.

Full Description

Early C20 formal gardens, c.2ha. Gate piers, early C20, with approach drive flanked by garden walls, leading north to gatehouse. Gardens designed by P Morley Horder, c.1912. Layout and planting now much simplified, but retaining the essential form. Formal rectangular area on south front of manor, with central sundial and 4 mature Irish yews at corners. To east of manor, extensive lawn containing principal formal feature-a stone-edged pool or canal aligned on the east front.
