Monument record MDO2270 - Bowl barrow north east of Looke Farm, Puncknowle

A bowl barrow visible as low earthworks on aerial photographs. In 1952 this monument was reported as being around 25 feet in diameter with a mound about

(SY 55178889) "Large conspicuous unopened tumulus". <1>

The site of a bowl barrow on the top of a hill 400 metres north east of Look Farm. The barrow has a mound, previously recorded as being 10 metres in diameter, and 0.8 metres high, surrounded by a quarry ditch. This has become infilled over the years but survives as a buried feature 2 metres wide. The site is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs <7-8> and was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
