An early modern band stand is shown at this location on the 1923-33 Ordnance Survey 25-inch map (1). This octagonal-shaped band stand is also visible on aerial photographs of Nothe Gardens taken in 1947 (2). This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
