Full Description
Trenches on the western side of Deans Court Lane revealed a series of shallow post-medieval quarry pits. A heavily-truncated posthole pre-dated the pits, but could not be more closely dated.
The area is situated within a postulated early-medieval defensive circuit, and in an area where a possible continuation of the medieval suburb of The Leaze has been suggested. It seems probable that evidence of any such remains in this area will have been considerably disturbed by later activity. (1)(2)
