Full Description

Almshouses six in number, founded by bequest of the Lady Gertrude Courtnay in 1557. <1>

Although they are the original (16th c) buildings, these houses are no longer almshouses and the name Courtenay's Almshouses does not now apply. These houses have thick stone walls. The front walls have been refaced and the slated roofs appear to be modern. <4>

Almshouses now demolished. <5>
