Full Description

Two dark lines are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 {1} , running along the beach from Overcombe to Weymouth. They are considered likely to be man-made structures, probably barbed wire entanglements forming part of a multiple line of WWII beach defences. (See also MDO24822). The features were digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
