'A complete Terra Nigra platter has recently come to light in the possession of Mr P Symes of Chickerell, who very kindly allowed me to examine and record it. The platter (Figure 5) was apparently found some years ago in association with a cist burial.

Valerie Rigby has identified the platter as of Camulodunum form 16, made in northern Gaul c. 50-85 AD. It is similar to other platters found at Jordan Hill, Weymouth, but has a unique potter's stamp.

The confirmed early date of the platter underlies the early nature of the cemetery ...'
