Full Description

(SY 616870) Very slight traces of 'Celtic' field scarps, almost ploughed out, can be seen on the chalk but not on
the gravels of the Bagshot Beds just north of enclosure Portesham 57. <1>

A group of linear banks and ditches of uncertain date and function are visible as cropmarks and low earthworks on aerial photographs <2-6>. They may have some relationship to the prehistoric enclosure (MDO2065) situated just to the south. These features were digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
