Full Description
A group of pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs {1-2}. They are considered likely to be the sites of post medieval extarctive pits. Some are shown on the 1880 OS map as being chalk pits {3}. The remainder are likely to have a similar origin, although a natural origin cannot be ruled out either. They were digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
