Monument record MDO26798 - Vinery, Pheasant Hill, Brownsea Island, Studland

A post medieval and early modern vinery, shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1885. Structures and earthworks associated with the vinery are also visible on aerial photographs of 1947 at Rocket Corner in the centre of Brownsea Island.

Structures and earthworks associated with the post medieval and early modern vinery are also visible on aerial photographs of 1947 at Rocket Corner in the centre of Brownsea Island. The structures consist of a long, narrow, building, with a smaller building lying perpendicular to it, at its eastern end. These buildings are still marked on the modern map. A wall lies parallel to the south of the long building, with an L-shaped, narrow, linear ditch immediately below it. Three short lengths of bank lie perpendicular to the ditch. (3) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
