Summary

Bowl barrow, one of the Bincombe Down Group. In 1983 this was noted as having a diameter of 12 metres and a surviving height of 0.6 metre. It was unploughed, but cut on NE side by building excavation. Its mound comprised flint and heathland gravels.

Full Description

Grinsell recorded this Barrow as 15 paces in diameter and 3 feet in height, and speculated that it may be upcast from adjoining quarry. <1>

Round Barrows: 'A' Bowl (67838572). Diam. 38 ft., ht. 3 ft. Disturbed in centre. <3>

'A' SY 67848571 A mutilated bowl barrow of approximate diameter 12.0m and height 0.6m. No visible ditch. Re-surveyed. at 1:2500 on MSD. See ground photographs. <4>
