Monument record MDO2825 - Lime Kiln at Warmwell Cross

A lime kiln recorded as ‘limekiln’ on the second edition (1900-1902) Ordnance Survey map. The date of this kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. The site was visited in 1992-93 by Peter Stanier, who could find no trace of the kiln structure.

Site of a lime kiln. Probably Post-medieval in date, although still semi-active in 1880 as shown on the OS map of this date. The chalk pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photos but the limekiln itself is not. {1-2}
