Full Description
Second World War pyramidial anti-tank blocks are visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s at Middle Chine. Two parallel lines of anti-tank blocks, measuring up to approximately 35 m in length, extend south west to north east across an open area at the end of the chine parallel to the seafront. (1-2) Anti-tank blocks, made of reinforced concrete, were one of the coastal crust defence measures used to protect vulnerable areas during the Second World War. The site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (3) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
