Monument record MDO28606 - Second World War military buildings, Southbourne, Bournemouth

A group of Second World War military buildings within an earthern bank, probably with a coastal defence function, are visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the north of the Promenade to the south of Southbourne Coast Road.

A group of Second World War military buildings within an earthern bank, probably with a coastal defence function, are visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the north of the Promenade to the south of Southbourne Coast Road. Two buildings, one with a possible blast wall are located within a larger sub-rectangular enclosure. (1) The site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) An area of anti-tank blocks, a second area of buildings and a cable and structure are located immediately to the south and may be associated with the buildings (see MDO28606-8). This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
