Full Description

Two areas of possible defensive structures of Second World War are visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s in the intertidal zone to the south of Southbourne Coast Road. The structural remains consist of one area of four parallel posts and a second area of two parallel posts, measuring up to 10 m in length. They could be the remains of beach scaffolding. (1) The site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
