Summary

Second World War beach defences, consisting of a line of anti-glider posts, possible barbed wire entanglements and other beach obstructions, are visible as structures on aerial photographs of 1941, along the beach on the south eastern side of the Sandbanks peninsula.

Full Description

Second World War beach defences, consisting of a line of anti-glider posts, possible barbed wire entanglements and other beach obstructions, are visible as structures on aerial photographs of 1941, along the beach on the south eastern side of the Sandbanks peninsula. The line of posts extends north east to south west for a distance of approximately 195 m. A looped barbed wire entanglement is located immediately to the south west. Beyond the barbed wire is a line of other possible obstructions, which may consist of piles of rocks. These obstructions extend to the south west for a distance of approximately 145 m. (1-2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
