A group of linear and curvilinear ditches are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs south of Sandford Lane taken in 1945 (1). They are considered likely to be an elaborate water meadow of post medieval or later date. These features are not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project (2), the area having since been built over by Sandford Lane Industrial Estate. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
