A possible late post medieval or early modern groyne is visible as a structure on aerial photographs of 1969 extending to the north east from Hengistbury Head. The possible groyne is visible as a linear structure measuring 16 m in length. (1) The groyne is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
