Full Description
Second World War slit trenches are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1947 on and to the west of Warren Hill, Hengistbury Head. They may have been associated with the defences around the Chain Home radar site (see MD28870) or RAF Southbourne (see MWX1164). The earthworks are visible over an area measuring 108 m by 30 m and comprise a trench cut with fire bays with banks of spoil around it. Four short lengths of trench and two possible foxholes are located to the east and west of the main trench. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
