Monument record MDO2896 - Barrow, Whitcombe Hill, West Stafford

Two Bronze Age bowl barrows visible as earthworks on Whitcombe Hill. The one to the south west has a diameter of 28 metres and a height of 3 metres. It has a flat top with a diameter of 4 metres. The barrow is thickly overgrown and bisected by a parish boundary bank. The second barrow to the north east has been ploughed-down. It has an approximate diameter of 20 metres and a maximum height of 1 metre.

'B'. Near circular mound, under plough, 29.0m. diameter by 1.0m. high, with no sign of a ditch. Possibly a bowl barrow. <1>

'B' - SY 71938878. A ploughed-down probable bowl barrow, of approximate diameter 20.0m., and height 1.0m. Maximum. Both published surveys (1:2500) revised. <4>

Site of a probable Bronze Age bowl barrow with traces of an outer ditch, visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. <5-6>
