Full Description
A group of nine circular depressions are visible as dispersed earthworks on aerial photographs of The Moor, Arne, taken between 1946 and 1947 (1-3). They are considered likely to be the remains of bomb craters associated with Second World War activities in this area. They were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). Some of these features are still visible on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (4), the remainder obscured under scrub.
