Full Description
A group of numerous small circular depressions are visible as a cluster of earthworks on aerial photographs of Arne Heath, taken in 1947 (1). They are considered likely to be the remains of shell holes or foxholes associated with Second World War activities in this area. The extent of area of these features was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). They are not visible on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (2), the area now being under forestry plantation.
