Full Description
Second World War beach defences, consisting of lines of posts and barbed wire entanglements, are visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s along the beach front adjacent to Studland Heath. The defences extend to the north of Redend Point for a distance of approximately 1890 m. Three lines of posts and barbed wire extend up the beach, perpendicular to the main line of defences. (1) The posts and barbed wire were arranged in a line along the front of the beach to impede landing craft, adjacent to a second line of barbed wire (see MDO29021), both of which were removed immediately after the war. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
