Full Description
An area of Second World War period trackways is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the east of Knowl Hill, Studland. The trackways are oriented north-south and south west-north-east and visible over an area measuring approximately 240 m by 150 m. (1) They may have been associated with military activity in the area. A practice trench crosses the area (see MDO29034); a possible military site is located immediately to the south and an area used for bomb testing is located to the east (see MDO29035-6). This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
