Full Description
An area of post medieval quarrying is visible as an earthwork on recent lidar imagery to the south east of Verney Farm, Swanage. The quarries are located on limestone, visible as pits over an area measuring approximately 325 m by 270 m. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South west Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).

At the south end of Verney Farm a moderate-steep south facing slope is covered in the pits and undulations which are evidence of disused limestone quarries. None of the available maps or documents describe the quarries here which were disused before the first detailed O.S. map of 1891 was surveyed.
