Summary

A low, roughly circular bank is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of The Warren. It is located within the remains of an extensive late prehistoric field system (MDO8266), suggesting it could be the remains of a hut circle associated with it. Alternatively it could be a pit associated with post medieval extractive activities in this area.

Full Description

A low, roughly circular bank, approximately 16.5m x 18.5m in size, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of The Warren (1). It is located within the remains of an extensive late prehistoric field system (MDO8266), suggesting it could be the remains of a hut circle associated with it. Alternatively it could be a pit associated with post medieval extractive activities in this area. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project.
