Monument record MDO29379 - Post medieval extractive pit, Lulworth Cove, West Lulworth

A linear pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of Lulworth Cove. It is considered possible this could be the remains of a post medieval extractive pit. Its close proximity to an Iron Age defensive enclosure (MDO8257), however, means that an earlier date for this feature cannot be ruled out either.

Its close proximity to an Iron Age defensive enclosure (MDO8257), however, means that an earlier date for this feature cannot be ruled out either. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is still visible as an earthwork on the most recent comprehensive aerial image available to the project.
