Full Description

Four Second World War wrecks or abandoned vessels are visible as structures on aerial photographs of the 1940s adjacent to the Royal Navy fuel store (see MDO19665), Portland. The wrecks are moored adjacent to a jetty, which forms part of the fuel store. The wrecks vary in size, measuring between 32 m and 57 m in length. They may have been used as temporary harbour structures or to reinforce the shoreline. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
